It’s back to school time! Whether you are going to be the class instructor or teacher’s pet; you definitely want to look your best. Class is in session! Here are 5 simple tips to get you through the first weeks of school!

1. Prime to stay flawless all day.

You’ll be in class all day, so you have stay flawless!

After you have cleansed and moisturized your skin the next step is foundation primer. Primers fill in the nooks and crannies of the skin and create a barrier for your foundation, BB or CC cream etc., to stick to. Instead of soaking into your skin, the foundation lays on top extending the wear of your foundation. For oilier skin types, it creates a barrier between the oils of your skin and foundation, again extending the wear of your makeup.

Some primers that I love: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Light (perfect for oily, sensitive, and acne prone skin). Benefit’s “Stay Flawless” primer (works for over 15 hours), and Mary Kay’s Foundation Primer with SPF 15.

2. Waterproof your eyes.

Waterproof mascara, a cream shadow, and waterproof or water resistant liner are your best friends during these final hot days as we slip into fall.

Cream shadows dry to a powder finish and usually have a primer built-in. An eye primer does the same thing for the eye as the foundation primer; the eye shadow will not crease or fade as it usually does when we get oily or if there is humidity in the air.

Some cream shadows that I love: Mally Cosmetics (Mally Roncal was once Beyonce’s makeup artist, shout out to the Beyhive!), Bobbi Brown, and Nars.

For water proof liners, try the line from Anastasia of Beverly Hills; widely known for her brow products, she has broadened her line to include liners, contour palettes, and eye shadow. Anastasia’s liners come in a wide range of colors, are richly pigmented and amazing!

3. Use your shadow for the perfect blush.

A lot of these cream shadows can also be used as blush! Never be afraid to use an eye shadow as a blush or vice versa. Colors that are a must: Bronze, gold, coral, green…have fun with it!

4. Tame your brows.

Next, eyebrows! For those of us that like to define or fill-in our brows, this is an important step! You will never catch me in class without a good eyebrow! My personal recommendations are; DipBrow by Anastacia of Beverly Hills. I swear by this product! It fills in the brow, lays the hair down, and sets it. I cannot recommend this product enough!

If you favor pencils, the line also carries mechanical as well as the traditional pencil. Some colors I recommend to fill-in the brow: Caramel (perfect light, warm brown) and Chocolate; Auburn and Dark Brown (in DipBrow).

5. Love your lips.

Any texture of lip is great all year round. You can wear gloss, lipstick or a lip stain. I keep a ton of options in my bag for touch-ups since I sometimes snack or drink coffee between classes.

Some of my faves that are glossy and moisturizing are: Au Naturel (a nude, creamy gloss from Mary Kay), Viva Glam IV (a creamy nude lipstick from MAC), and EOS lip balm! I usually wear lip balm under lipgloss or lipstick. It’s great to wear especially because classrooms and study halls can get a little dry.

Have a great school year, you’ll be hearing from me soon! If you have any questions, just ask! And study hard!
