Red Eye’s the Battle of the Burger Presented by Amstel Light
Me and my new best friends!

By Devin Miller

Red Eye’s the Battle of the Burger, Presented by Amstel Light, hosted the most DELICIOUS Burger Battle in the city this past Thursday.  It was held in one of my favorite parts of the city, at the Chicago History Museum, with special guest Jeff Mauro. The weather was perfect and the DJ turned the museum into a 90’s/early 2000’s house party.  I’m talking Nelly, Chingy, even Ace of Base!

I want to preface that typically I am not much of a burger person.  However, with 17 restaurants, it’s impossible not to fall in love with a few. I found delight in a burger from WHISK called The House burger (Chihuahua cheese, chipotle mayo, guacamole, and tortilla strips).  I paired it with an AMSTEL LIGHT and instantly became a burger person. AMAZING.

AND THE BEST BURGER IS...

The Old Time Religion burger from Leadbelly

The winner of the Burger Battle, who received city bragging rights and a SIZABLE trophy, was Leadbelly. They featured their Old Time Religion burger. Now, if you think you’ve ever had a fancy burger before, you haven’t because this is it  (Roasted tomato, goat cheese, arugula, and truffle aioli). That classy burger went perfectly with a Strongbow Hard Apple Cider. PERFECTION.

I went to this event alone, and ended up with about 12 new best friends. This ladies and gentlemen, is a clear indication of AMBIANCE mixed with GREAT PEOPLE and GREAT FOOD!

Unfortunately, my belly couldn’t fit all of the burgers. I hear there was a woman that tried all 17 burgers but I couldn’t find her. She was probably asleep! I urge all of you to keep track of this event through the Red Eye next summer so you can have as much fun as I had!
