8 Summer Beauty Tips to Try right NOW

8 Summer Beauty Tips to Try right NOW
By Courtney Waldon
Winter is over, Spring has sprung, and if you're like me....you're ready for Summer!
Summer where I'm from (Chicago) is full of outdoor festivals, food, concerts and gorgeous weather. We definitely have to look our best while we enjoy all these events, so here are 8 quick beauty tips to get you right for Summer.
1. Less is More. - The highlighting and contouring trend is still alive and well. And while I love it, it has it's place and Summer is not it. You do not want to cake on a ton of product on your skin during the humid summer months. I suggest evening the skin tone with a light tinted moisturizer or CC cream, and using a bronzer with a little shimmer for a subtle highlight. Only place highlighter on the high planes of your face i.e; cheekbones, brow bone, forehead, center of face. My picks to get this look: Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer w/SPF, Mary Kay's CC Cream w/SPF, Mary Kay Bronzer in Medium/Dark, or MAC Cosmetics Bronzer in Soft and Gentle.
2. Skin is in!- If you love Full coverage foundation, try a medium coverage. It will still cover imperfections, but let's your skin show through just a bit.
3. SPF! - SPF should be your BFF. EVERYONE needs Spf no matter what the skin tone, especially during the summer months when we are outside more and baring a little more skin. Wearing sunscreen is proven to prevent melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma; two types of skin cancer. Apply it prior to going out into the sun and reapply throughout the day. Always protect your skin. I repeat...EVERYONE needs SPF! My faves: MD Solar Science Mineral Tinted Cream w/SPF 30, Mary Kay Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50.

   4. Wear a bright lip! - I am a huge fan of bright lips! I may not wear eye shadow everyday, but you can be sure to catch me in a great bright lip. It brightens up the skin, and looks great with a tan. Some colors even help your teeth look whiter! #Winning! Summer is definitely a time to step out of your comfort zone and give it a try! Here are a few of my go-to's: Indie Flick by NYX, Pink Pigeon or Candy Yum Yum by MAC Cosmetics, and Shock Tart by Mary Kay.
5. Bold Brows- Brows will never be out of style. Get your brows professionally shaped. A true professional will take a look at your face structure to give you a balanced shape to your brows and show you how to maintain them. If you are getting your brows done and they are just ripping hair off without taking into account your bone structure or explaining why they are doing what they are doing...it's time to find someone else! Remember: Brows thin as we get older, keep them full for a youthful look. For recommendations on Brow Stylists feel free to contact me!
6. Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate!- Slough off the skin of season's past with a good sugar scrub. You can even make one at home, here's a quick recipe:
1/2 cup white or brown sugar + 1/2 cup olive oil= Amazing sugar scrub! The granules are small enough to use on the face. Just be gentle. I recommend exfoliating the skin at least twice a week. If you have dry skin, three times s week maximum.
7. Moisturize- After you take the dead skin off, it's time to moisturize the new skin underneath! Here is my old school favorite: Johnson & Johnson Baby Oil gel! It works! Especially on dry skin like mine.
8. Experiment! - Have fun! Experiment with color, with clothing, step out of your comfort zone.  It's more fun that way. :-)
