Color Inspiration
I recently spotted this soft aqua and yellow color combination on Apartment Therapy and sort of fell in love. I have been on a hunt for living room wall color ideas for about 2 years (so indecisive!) and this one may have just jumped to the top of the list (for today at least…)... Read more »

Holiday Centerpiece

image.attributes.post_excerpt
This year I was inspired to use my glassware in a holiday centerpiece for my dining room table. I bought these snow covered evergreen trees (you can find them at most craft stores) and then used various sized wine glasses and a champagne flute to showcase them. I pulled three candle holders from the living... Read more »

Autumn Cheese Board

Last week, I had the *best* Columbus Day EVER. Since my office was closed, I decided to spend the day working on my personal projects at a coffee shop in my neighborhood. After an early afternoon gchat, one of my dearest gentleman friends, Mr. Joseph Hernandez, showed up to join me in some impromptu “workshop study... Read more »

image.attributes.post_excerpt
I have been in the market for a bar stool ever since I moved into my condo nearly 4 years ago. The open kitchen has a high bar that just begs for it. It is the perfect place for dinner for one, late night work sessions, or for a guest to perch on when I... Read more »

Dress Form Makeover

image.attributes.post_excerpt
I wanted to share a project that I completed last fall. I found this wrought iron dress form at the Randolph Antique Market for only $30, sanded it down and sprayed it with lacquer spray paint (two coats). The addition of a tiny bird (can find them at any craft store) gives it a bit... Read more »

Easy Lily Cleanup

image.attributes.post_excerpt
I thought I would reach back into the advice archives and resurrect this household tip. For easy removal of a flowers stamen (which can leave messy pollen everywhere), simply use a fork to pull them cleanly off. I use this trick on lilies, my favorite flower and it works like a charm!

Picnic Inspiration

image.attributes.post_excerpt
My friends and I recently bought tickets to see Rufus Wainwright perform with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The show is at Chicago’s Ravinia, a gorgeous outdoor music venue north of the city. Picnics are welcome and I have not been able to stop thinking about all of the yummy gourmet possibilities. Here is some of... Read more »
