Autumn Cheese Board

Last week, I had the *best* Columbus Day EVER. Since my office was closed, I decided to spend the day working on my personal projects at a coffee shop in my neighborhood. After an early afternoon gchat, one of my dearest gentleman friends, Mr. Joseph Hernandez, showed up to join me in some impromptu “workshop study hours.” We bounced ideas off each other, laughed (alot) & got a TON of work done.

After a few hours, we decided to change scenery & take advantage of the beautiful October weather by relocating to my deck (yes - I live in Manhattan and somehow have a heeee-uge, private patio with a full-size dinner table! It’s amazing, but took forevvvvver to find. NYC apartment hunting ain’t easy.)

On our walk home, we passed the market. The outdoor stacks of fruit & flowers always tease me. Today, I decided to buy some gourds. We
carefully selected six of the hard-skinned fruits, and then went inside to grab a six-pack of pumpkin beer & a fresh baguette.

I had a few gourmet cheeses & pitted mixed olives at home in the fridge; so when we got to my apartment, I quickly whipped up a cheese board for my unexpected guest. As I searched for a vessel to contain my gourds, Joseph artistically arranged them on the cheese board. Brilliant!

The gourds are now in a clear pedestal bowl with green-trim; but as we sipped on beers and worked into the black night, the glow of our laptops
& fall-scented candles lit our pretty little “gourd board”.
