One of the largest architecture festivals in the world, the Chicago Architecture Center's (CAC) Open House Chicago (OHC) takes place this weekend, Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14 from 9 to 5 both days (some sites have shorter hours so check ahead) at more than 280 sites in city neighborhoods and two suburbs--Oak Park and Evanston.
OHC is a free event that offers the public access to a variety of architecturally significant buildings--many rarely open to the public--including repurposed mansions, stunning skyscrapers, opulent theaters, exclusive private clubs, industrial facilities, private offices and breathtaking sacred spaces.
New this year is a Family Festival at CAC's just-opened state-of-the-art Architecture Center at 111 East Wacker Dr.
Now in its eight year, Open House Chicago, has expanded every year. Additional neighborhood's for Open House 2018 include Beverly and Morgan Park on the far southwest side, and Austin, on the far west side.
