Bounce Sporting Club (324 W. Chicago Ave. 312-313-7300), the upscale sports bar out of New York that arrived in Chicago's River North neighborhood last fall has added a rooftop--just in time for summer (if it ever arrives).

The roof atop the 3-story building is a fun, casual spot to soak up some rays (or sit in one of the shaded areas) and indulge some boozy ice pops and playful crafted cocktails such as: the Panda, Panda, Panda (Party Wafer-infused Bulleit Bourbon, Big Rock, Hello Panda, old fashioned bitters and simple syrup), the Can’t Feel My Face (mango infused DeLeon Tequila, habanero, fresh citrus, simple syrup, dehydrated mango) and the Cardi Bee (gin, honey, meyer lemon, and bubbles), OR, if you're feeling brave, try the 2 drink limit caffeinated whiskey concoction that packs a powerful punch.

Food options are a little lighter than inside offering the perfect blend for summer. Dishes include crab toast with smashed peas and chiles, tuna poke tacos, head-on prawn skewers, and a summer flatbread made with ramp pesto, ’nduja, corn, asparagus, and roasted tomato. BouncetunaappMy favorite the lobster roll came with large meaty chunks of lobster, a healthy dose of celery salt, instead of the soggy celery you get at some places, and was topped with arugula.

The vibe is fun, casual with a party-like atmosphere where you feel like you are at private party rather than on a restaurant rooftop. You can walk around, mingle, go to the bar or just stay at your table.

The views offer a taste of Chicago's many faceted personalities. Looking east you see Chicago's classic skyline while looking west you see the "L", office buildings, apartments and alleys--what I like to call "the real Chicago."
