Taste of Chicago 2014: Get a Leg Up on Food Lineup
The Hearty Boys and Gale Gand enjoying the bubbles from their Spitz Burger--new to this year's Taste

This year’s Taste of Chicago food lineup is look n' good.  The tasty mix of diverse offerings reflect Chicago's vibrant restaurant scene and should go down easy with Taste-goers.

Exciting new restaurants--including some that weren't even around last year--like Spritz Burger are on this year's menu.

Of course, the traditional favorites that make Taste, Taste—like the Original Rainbow Cone,  Eli’s Cheesecake and Robinson’s No. 1 Ribs will once again be feeding the masses.

Perhaps most exciting of all--after a two year hiatus--the popular turkey legs are back. Manny's Coffee Shop (1141 S. Jefferson St.) will be serving their barbequed legs for the entire five day run of the fest from July 9 through 13.

A total of 66 restaurants are on this year’s roster, up from 60 last year.  Tastes from around the world—African, American, Caribbean, Chinese, French, Indian, Italian, Thai and Vietnamese--will be tempting fest-goers.

Twenty-two newcomers join the table.  With the breakdown including seven new five-day restaurants, eight new Pop-Ups and seven new food trucks.

Burger lovers can get their fix from the always delicious M Burgers, among others, and a new taste with Spritz Burgers, from the "Hearty" team of Dan Smith, Steve McDonagh and Gale Gand.

Spritz Burgers are made from grass-fed beef provided by a small New Zealand farmers' cooperative.  Add one of Spritz Burgers uniquely flavored bubbly drinks and you're off to a good start.

Now trending in Chicago, poutines, the calorie-laden french fries, topped with a light brown gravy-like sauce and cheese curds, originally from Quebec, will be well represented at Taste.  This iconic comfort food will be popping up on menus around the park including the Calgary-based restaurant...Big Cheese Poutinerie...who knows how to do it right.

Old standby Dominick's, a fixture at Taste since 1993, is gone from the Chicago map and from the Taste Table.  They will be replaced by the ever-expanding, Chicago fav Mariano's who will have a presence in the cooking demonstration area and as a five-day restaurant.

Other new participants (22 of the 66 participants are first-timers) include Chicago's Dog House, Lawrence's Fisheries, M Burger, The Savoy and SpritzBurger. New pop-up restaurants include Brasserie by LM, Kamehachi, Mayan Sol Latin Grill, Restaurant Veneno de Nayarit and Stan's Donuts & Coffee. Harold's Chicken, which for many years had a booth at Taste, returns this year as a food truck, along with newcomers Bridgeport Pasty, Chicago Lunchbox, Ms. Tittle's Cupcakes and Windy City Patty Wagon.

Familiar faces returning to Taste include Bacino's, Beat Kitchen, BJ's Market & Bakery, Bobak Sausage, Carbon Live Fire Mexican Grill, Connie's Pizza, Eli's Cheesecake, Iyanze, Kasia's Deli, Lou Malnati's, Original Rainbow Cone, Robinson's No. 1 Ribs, Smoke Daddy, Tuscany and Vee-Vee's African restaurant.
