It’s party time as the 18th annual Mayfest Chicago hits the streets of Lakeview this weekend to kick off what many consider to be the city’s first official bash of the summer of 2014.
Mayfest has something for all ages. Fest-goers can munch on traditional festival food, sip cool (and warm beverages) and chill with some of the city’s top musical talent at one of the area’s most well-known intersections—Ashland Avenue at Barry.
Bring your dog, your cat, your grandma or your nephew—the fest promises to be a cure-all for the serious epidemic of cabin fever brought on by Chicago’s endless winter of 2013-14.
Some of Chicago’s most popular bands will be performing at Mayfest including: Too White Crew, Wedding Banned, Hairbangers Ball, This Must Be the Band, Mr. Blotto, and others.
For families, in addition to the food and musical offerings, a special Chicago Kids Day will be held. The “day” will offer health and wellness screenings, games, entertainment, and other activities for the whole family.
For your best friend, The Chicago Pet Pageant and Expo returns to Mayfest on Sunday, May 18 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The Pet Expo features a costume contest judged by celebrity Jay Michael from Bravo TV’s 110 Days of Summer, an animal communicator (so you can learn what your pet thinks of you), pet massages, a doggie kissing booth, and a drawing for a prize package worth more than $300.
Don’t have a best friend—look no further—the Pet Expo will be offering a variety of furry friends up for adoption.
