Chicago's most popular festival, the Chicago Air and Water Show returns this weekend for its 55th year of daredevil thrills and death-defying action at North Avenue Beach and along Chicago’s lakefront. Over two million spectators are expected to attend this year's show making it the largest free admission air and water exhibition of its kind in the United States. Enjoy this video preview. What: The Chicago Water Show 2013
When: Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both Days (In addition on Friday, August 16, you can catch most of the show at the full day rehearsal--and avoid the crowds)
Where: North Avenue Beach (at North Avenue and the lakefront) is the center of the action and where you need to be to see the water show. The air show can be viewed from many areas along Chicago's lakefront from Navy Pier to Belmont Harbor
Who: Headliners include the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team, Sean D. Tucker & Team Oracle and Dave Dacy in the Super Stearman
What to Bring: Blankets, beach towels, chairs and a cooler are allowed. Pets and camping equipment are not allowed.
Parking: As always, public transportation, biking or walking is suggested. If you do drive, get there early and don't complain about the crowds--what did you expect? The best bet for parking is the Millennium Garages to avoid the hassle of finding parking near the beach. Garage locations are Millennium Park Garage and Millennium Lakeside Garage at 5 S. Columbus Drive, Grant Park North Garage at 25 N. Michigan Ave. and Grant Park South Garage at 325 S. If you can't attend: Play-by-play coverage of the show will air on WBBM Newsradio 780 and 105.9FM on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. In addition WBBM Newsradio will also provide livestream video on their website.
