Just in case you were worried that Chicago doesn't have enough summer festivals with 400 plus and counting, there's a new fest coming to River North (Hubbard and Rush Streets) July 12 through the 14th. The newest fest, the Windy City Smokeout, sponsored by Bub City will present "the Best of BBQ and Country Music Talent".
The inaugural summer festival promises a heady mix of live country music, beer and BBQ from some of the city's top BBQ spots including: Smoque, Lillie’s Q and Bub City. In addition, nationally-acclaimed Myron Mixon, star judge of Destination America’s “BBQ Pitmasters,” bestselling author of Everyday BBQ, and Chef/Owner of Pride & Joy Bar-b-que in New York City and Miami (and others) will be on hand.
“We wanted to create a real BBQ fest right here in Chicago, and showcase the great, authentic flavors from around the country,” said Doug Psaltis, Bub City Chef Partner. “We’ll be offering a variety of takes on barbecue and hope people will experience them all.” Ed Warm, Joe’s on Weed owner, enthuses, “During this weekend, Chicago will be the next best thing to Nashville.”
Festival headliners include Jerrod Niemann on Friday, July 12, followed by Grammy-nominated artists David Nail on Saturday, July 13, and Pat Green on Sunday, July 14. In addition, there will be many more performers, both well-known and emerging talent, that will take the stage throughout each day of the festival. General admission tickets are on sale now at the Bub City website. A one day pass is $30 and a three-day pass is $60.
