Lucky to call Chicago Home.
Despite the flooding rains on a gray April day, the winds off Lake Michigan that would blow a less resilient soul away, the political follies and the off-again, on-again flash mob wieldings, I realize every day how lucky I am to call Chicago home.
An event held last week at The Arts Club of Chicago was just another example of Chicago's good things. Two curmudgeons of the Theater World (and I mean curmudgeons in the nicest way) Actor Brian Dennehy and Theater Critic Chris Jones faced off in a witty, intellectual, poignant yet humorous conversation about life, theater, personalities and Chicago's meaningful spots and hang-outs for theater people and journalists. The face-off was preceded by appetizers and wine and followed by a wonderful dinner buffet, silent auction, raffle, a champagne toast and cake.
The proceeds from this special evening, presented by the Chicago Associates of the Stratford Festival and chaired by Gloria Friedman, will support the Chicago Fellow in the Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre at the Stratford Festival. Here's a peek inside that very special evening.
