CHICAGO, Friday, January 4, 2013. This February Chicagoans have a lot to celebrate. Normally, those of us in this part of the world tolerate rather than look forward to what can sometimes be a chilly off-putting month. But this year we have two special reasons to get off that couch and enjoy Chicago. The month kicks off with, reason #1: Chicago Restaurant Week then on the heels of Restaurant Week comes reason #2: The first ever Chicago Theatre Week...an unbelievable celebration of Chicago's World-class theater scene.
Chicago Theatre Week, sponsored by The League of Chicago Theatres and Choose Chicago, will offer over 100 shows from Chicago's biggest and best. The exceptional line-up of theaters and cultural institutions participating goes from Broadway in Chicago to the CSO to everything in-between (see complete list below).
The week kicks off Tuesday, February 12 through Sunday, February 17, 2013 with tickets going on sale at 10a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013. There are some unbelievable ticket deals for some very hot shows—and it is expected that many of them will sell out quickly. Tickets are priced at $15 and $30. They will be sold online on the Chicago Theatre Week website.
During the course of Chicago Theatre Week, in addition to the shows, you may want to check out the website for special events at participating theatres, including enrichment activities such as talk backs with artists and added value activities such as drink specials, as well as hotel and restaurant discounts.
