CPS Teacher's Strike: Lookingglass Theatre Offers a Dramatic Option for Children During the CPS Strike.

CHICAGO, Monday, September 10, 2012. In response to the CPS teacher's strike, Lookingglass Theatre Company announced today that they will be offering a special day-to-day drama workshop for children ages 5-13 for the duration of the strike.  If you have a budding actor or actress in your family, this may be the perfect way to keep your little one safe and engaged.

The program, based on Lookingglass Theatre's respected summer camps, will feature workshops, arts exploration activities, storytelling and physical theatre.

The workshop will be held in Lookingglass’ classroom and rehearsal room, located in Lookingglass’ administrative offices at the John Hancock Building, 875 N. Michigan Ave. from 9a.m. to 3p.m. The cost will be $65 per day.

In response to the CPS teachers’ strike, Court Theatre is offering a special free performance of August Wilson’s Jitney, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson, for any CPS student (and one parent/guardian) with a valid CPS ID. This free matinee will be Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 10:30am at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue. There is no need to RSVP, simply present a valid CPS ID at the theatre.
