Chicago, Monday, October 17, 2011. Chicago will be showcasing it's thriving fashion industry at the 7th annual Fashion Focus Chicago with a weeklong series of events kicking off today through Sunday, October 23, 2011. See runway shows in Millennium Park, enjoy a variety of free and affordable shopping and designer events around town, and discover what's hot and what's not for the the 2011-2012 season. Runway Shows at Millennium Park.
Millennium Park will host four Fashion Focus runway shows starting at 7:30p.m. each evening from Tuesday, October 18 through Friday, October 21. Tickets are required for these shows and are available for purchase online at the addresses listed below.
On Tuesday, The Designers of the Chicago Fashion Incubator (CFI) presented by Macy’s will feature new and emerging Chicago designers including Concetta Cipriano, Shavonne Dorsey, Eric Kipp, Kahindo Mateene, Taneasha Prunty and Crystal B. Simms; along with alumni including Miriam Cecilia Carlson, Leah Fagan, Christina Fan, Anna Hovet, Stephanie Kuhr, Agga B. Raya, Jonnie Rettele, Cynthia Ryba, Donaldo Smith and Lidia Wachowska. Tickets are $35 general admission $80 for VIP tickets which include an exclusive pre-party at 6p.m. and VIP seating for the show. Tickets can be purchased at CFI.
On Wednesday Mario Tricoci presents InspireDesign featuring five Chicago fashion lines: Imaginary People, J.Cheikh, Michelle Tan, Narcisse Designs and Reddoll. Tickets can be purchased online.
On Thursday Conscious Living TV presents the Vert Couture Eco-fashion Show & Benefit, a charity event benefiting Keep Chicago Beautiful. The show will highlight the sustainable continuum of Chicago’s couture fashion movement showcasing the Spring/Summer 2012 eco-collections of the following Chicago fashion lines: Richard Dayhoff, Brenda Abdullah, Heart, Dollparts, Rosina Mae eco-swimwear, Victoria Larkin, Lauren Lein, Silk Utopia and Mohop Shoes. On Friday, The Art of Fashion 2011 previews the Spring 2012 collections of accomplished Chicago designers and fashion lines inclucing: Nade Baer, Nora del Busto, Lara Miller, Borris Powell, Eva Pazola, RÜCH, Squasht by Les, Shernett Swaby, Sylwia Wilczynska and Zamrie. Shopping Events.
Modern Vintage Chicago and Indie Designer Market present a shopping event on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23 from 10a.m. to 5p.m. at 1340 W. Washington. Find vintage clothing, jewelry and vanities by style icons such as Halston, Balenciaga, Patrick Kelly and Chanel alongside Chicago’s leading independent Chicago designers. Special presentations include: an exhibit and sale by the School of the Art Institute instructor and master milliner Eia Radozavlijec, plus retrospectives on “Hats!” and “Fashion in the Golden Age of Hollywood,” by Modern Vintage Fashion Director Nena Ivon. On Wednesday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. The Chicago History Museum presents Dress Code featuring the runway debut of the rising stars from Chicago’s fashion design schools including: Columbia College Chicago, Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago, International Academy of Design & Technology Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. 1601 N.
