What Happened to Tradition: New Looks for Oktoberfest.

The traditional dirndl, a full-skirted dress with a tight bodice and low neck, is undergoing some changes.

A controversy is brewing among brat-lovers and beer-lovers at Oktoberfest celebrations around the world but especially in Munich, the home of the original Oktoberfest where tradition plays an important part in the Bavarian culture.  It seems for many tradition is out the window as fest-goers are sporting the new looks.  Women are wearing the men's traditional Lederhosen (leather trousers) and suspenders. Traditional drindls are under-going a fashion makeover. One designer being criticized for her trend-hungry designs is Lola Paltinger whose Lollipop line of Oktoberfest clothing is going for up $4000.00 a pop.  On the other hand, others are loving the new look.  See what you think in the slide show below.
