WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO.

WHAT: The 52nd Annual Chicago Air and Water Show.
WHEN: Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 10:00a.m. to 4p.m.
WHERE: Chicago Lake Front, from Fullerton Avenue to Oak Street Beach.
WHO:  Expect to see the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, the Chicago Fire Department Air and Sea Rescue Team, the Lima Lima Flight Team, The Firebirds, the U.S. Navy Leap Frogs Parachute Team, Sean Tucker & Team Oracle, Ed Hamill and his Air Force Reserve Bi-Plane, Red Bull MiG and the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights.

Over 2 million people are expected to flock to the shores of Lake Michigan for the 52nd Annual Chicago Air and Water Show.  Check out some of the prime viewing areas listed below.

TEN HOT SPOTS.

1.  North Avenue Beach.
This is the epicenter for the combined Air and Water Show.  All the action is right here as are all the crowds.  An especially good area for viewing the water part of the show if you don't suffer from ochlophobia. 1600 N. Lake Shore Drive.

2.  Belmont Harbor.
Far from the maddening crowd, yet close enough to be in the action, Belmont Harbor offers an excellent sight line to view the show along with a relatively relaxing atmosphere.  Bring a chair and picnic lunch and enjoy. 3600 Recreation Drive. 312 742 7673.

3.  The John Hancock Observatory and Lavazza Cafe.
Get there early and stake out your spot in the John Hancock Observatory, step outside to the

open air sky walk, or stay inside and enjoy coffee, snacks and spirits at Chicago's Highest Cafe, the Lavazza Cafe, 94 stories into the sky. 
 
4.  Diversey Harbor.
Although some say the sight lines are better at Belmont Harbor, Diversey Harbor is a little closer to the action and a great place to pull up a chair, grab a snack and enjoy the show. Stop in before or after at the nearby Lincoln Park Zoo or see the butterfly exhibit at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum 2601 N. Cannon Drive. 312 742 7762.

5.  Lake Michigan.

The Odyssey, Mystic Blue and Spirit are all offering special Air and Water Show cruises that will feature a meal, entertainment and a great view.  All three boats are docked at Navy Pier. 600 E. Grand.

6. Cite.
At 70 stories high on top of Lake Point Tower, you won't get to see a lot of the water show at Cite, but you will have an awe-inspiring 360 degree view of the Air Show.  Cite is offering a special Air & Water Show Brunch for $62.00 per person. 505 North Lake Shore Drive.  312 644 4050.

7. Castaways.
Your best view of the A & W show may be at Castaways on North Avenue Beach, the eye of

8. The Signature Room.

The Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building offers an unsurpassed view of the show at 1,128 feet in the air.  For "The Ultimate Air & Water Show Experience" you'll have to part with $100.00 per person  All-day admission includes a gourmet buffet and an open bar. 21 and older.  11a.m. to 4p.m. Saturday or Sunday

9.  The Point Cafe.
The Point Cafe, located at the east end of Navy Pier offers a great view of the lake and the sky. They are offering Air and Water Show specialty microbrews for $6 each.  Check out their Flying Dog, Dogfish Head, or Two Brothers and Three Floydes.

10.  Riva Crab House.
RIVA CRAB HOUSE on Navy Pier is offering a view of the Air and Water Show plus themed cocktails and dollar oysters. Specialty drinks at $12 a pop include the G-Force (Grey Goose Vodka, Bombay Blue Sappphire Gin and blue cheese olives);  and The Freedom Fighter (Ketel One Citron Vodka with a dash of Caravella Lemoncelo, along with a sugared rim, and sweet and sour.
