Transformers are to Descend upon the Windy City.
Mayor Richard M. Daley announced yesterday that the next installment of the successful Transformers movie series will begin filming in Chicago July 10  (through August 19).  Although locations have not yet been determined it has been hinted that much of the action will take place in the downtown area.

What will this do for the city besides closing down already busy areas, creating more mayhem, and tying up traffic?  According to the mayor, Chicago will be transformed in a very positive way.
Here are some of the expected benefits:

An estimated positive impact on the local economy of at least $20 million.
Creation of more than 200 jobs.
Paid internships for ten CPS students.
Publicity to entice tourist trade and put the city in a positive light.

Transformers 3 will be directed by Michael Bay and produced by Ian Bryce and Lorenzo Di

The film is slated for release in  July 2011.
