Billy Elliot Chicago: Is it Better the Second Time Around? Plus special deals on tickets for "Billy Elliot the Musical."

3 Billy's Down and 1 to Go.

I saw Billy Elliot for the first time in Chicago in early April.  My first Billy was J.P. Viernes, the bright-eyed American-born son of Filipino immigrants.  Although J.P. didn't look exactly  like the rest of his English mining family it took nothing away from his  lively performance.  After totally enjoying the show, I did begin to wonder how it might play with other Billys.  On my blog,  I threw out the questions:  Which Billy did you see? Has anyone seen more than one Billy?

Being a Billy neophyte, at the time, I was surprised to hear from a self-professed "Billy addict" who had come all the way from Australia to see three of the four Chicago Billy's. He has also seen most of the boys on Broadway and in London. He had a hard time picking a favorite, saying all are good but each lends his own personality to the role.  Other comments came from people who had seen from six to 10 boys perform the role. Then I was blown away when I heard from JohnnyC who had seen 25 different Billy's and a total of 169 performances...and counting.

Now that I have seen three Billy's, I'm beginning to understand the addiction. I will be seeing my fourth Billy in the next week and will leave my personal comments until then.

I would love to hear from others.  Did you like the show? How many Bill's  have you seen?  Do you have a favorite?

Please leave your comments at the bottom of this post.
