Chicago Sky Take Liberties With New York

Tonight's game wasn't always pretty, in fact, the first quarter offered up a whopping 15 points for the Sky and 21 for the Liberty. Both teams looked flat and not much was going in the basket for either side but kudos to bench player Tamera Young who poured in 15 points in the first half and for the other side, former Chicago high school standout Cappie Pondexter had 16 points for NY. Pondexter led all scorers for the night with 22 points but even that wasn't enough as the Sky took down the Liberty for their 5th win in a row and a stellar 12&4 record for the season.

Even with superstar rookie Elena Delle Donne having a rather quiet night (compared to the high standards she's set and we've become accustomed to this year), her teammates came through with 5 players scoring in double digits. Great having our Big Syl back in the lineup and she came through with 15 points, 3 blocked shots and 13 rebounds...Big Syl played BIG. Tamera Young played BIG. Chicago Sky played BIG and thanks to a great TEAM effort - they won BIG beating New York 80-69. Chicago took Liberties with New York all right, they took the Liberty and showed them the door!

Life is good in Skytown (Chicago had been known as Hawkeytown most recently with the Blackhawks bringing home the Stanley Cup) but this team is giving us all Sky high hopes of dreaming big this year and as long as everyone stays healthy, I truly believe this team is a contender for more than just making the playoffs - I truly believe this team can win a WNBA title with the talent we have this year.

No pressure coaches, players and staff - stay loose, have fun and enjoy the ride...we're on a wild one this year but it sure is fun to watch. Tonight's game even featured a couple getting engaged in the first half between quarters so it was an extra special night for them and an extra special night for the Sky once again. Tonight's "Beast" award goes to Tamera Young for coming off the bench and taking Liberties with New York in a big way. Now everyone go to bed and have sweet dreams - I know I will! GO SKY!
