Tina Charles of the Connecticut Sun shot lights out tonight in the Sky vs. Sun game in Connecticut scoring 29 points and leading all scorers. Luckily for us, that wasn't nearly enough as the Sky sank the Sun's hopes of winning for only the 4th time this season. For the Sky it was victory number 10 versus only four losses - a very nice record indeed. Our rookie sensation Elena Delle Donne came through again leading all Chicago scorers with 23 big ones and her teammates helped out by also scoring in double digits - Cash with 19, Fowles with 14, Prince added 11 and Tamera Young came off the bench and added 8 points. All in all, Chicago never looked back from a 12-0 domination in the first quarter. It took the Sun nearly 5 minutes in the opening period to even score a bucket which made all of us Sky fans extremely gleeful!
This was another great TEAM effort for the Sky with nicely balanced scoring, great defense and nice ball movement. A scary moment when Big Syl tweaked an ankle led to my ingesting an antacid tablet immediately with fears that she might be out injured again...but just as the antacid was taking effect, Sylvia reappeared on the sidelines and made it back into the game. Phew, that was a close one! Another close one came when Head Coach Pokey Chatman nearly got laid out by one of her own players as Epiphanny Prince came flying off the court and plowed into her. I immediately ingested another antacid until relief set in when both the Coach and Prince came away unscathed and both had a good laugh about it as Prince reentered the game in one piece! Thank God for Tums...or I wouldn't be able to make it through all is madness.
Congrats Pokey and the flying high Sky - you are all looking good, you are all making us proud to be Sky fans and you are proving that male dominated sports in the city of Chicago ain't the only game in town. Let's keep filling up the Allstate Arena and root root root for the Sky team...they deserve it, we love it and let's keep on sinking the Sun, fighting the Fever, downing the Dream, lashing out at the Liberty, mowing down the Mystics and WIN, WIN, WIN! GO SKY!
