Vintage wedding idea and shopping this weekend

One big drawback to bridal bouquets: They wilt. They also don't last forever. They ALSO can occasionally be a bit of a letdown and have cheap-looking plastic handles that can awkwardly be seen by the paparazzi and everyone at the BBC.

But if you love vintage like I hope you do, there is a creative alternative that's trending at the moment. Antique brooch bouquets are gaining popularity for their whimsy, unique look and  fail-safe stem perkiness. The best part is you can either have them professionally made or craft your own using your personal collection of brooches, which obviously can imbue added sentimental value to something you'll keep for years. And it's one less thing to muss your makeup over on your wedding day. Also, if you have a hub that doesn't mind a little bling, this idea can work for a boutonnière.

On a completely unrelated note, Randolph Street Market starts their series of summer sales this weekend at Plumber's Hall. So if you're considering the brooch bouquet approach, this isn't a bad place to start brooch-hunting.

Huh. Guess that was kind of related.

Randolph Street Market, 1340 W. Washington, May 28, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., May 29, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
