Maggie Gyllenhaal talks about her vintage style

I know there was a reason I always preferred Maggie Gyllenhaal as the Batman heroine over Katie Holmes -- you know, other than the fact that she doesn't wear pegged jeans and married the awesome Peter Sarsgaard instead of a raving, Oprah-couch-bouncing lunatic. NO ONE JUMPS ON OPRAH'S COUCH. RESPECT.

But I digress.

In a quick interview with the New York Times this week, Gyllenhaal talked about her common donning of 40's-length skirts and her recent delving into 70's fashion. And she looks adorable in the NYT photo, wearing a vintage floral Yves Saint Laurent dress.

In my post yesterday we looked at vintage couture's ascension to the red carpet. But some celebrities, like Gyllenhaal, are taking it a step further. They're integrating it into their daily lives and making it a more personal expression of their style. It may not be as influential as the red carpet, but when the paparazzi are snapping you at every turn, your day-wear will still make some waves.

Kudos, Maggie Gyllenhaal and those like you. You look fabulous.
