I grew up near Chicago loving hockey, SCTV, Canada, and, eventually, beer.  Unsurprisingly, I fell in love with a Canadian, married her, and now live in Toronto where I still follow the Blackhawks closely.  But as much as I follow what happens on the ice, I'm fascinated by what goes on off the ice -- whether this involves salary cap management, trades, legal matters, or PR, I find all that quite interesting, and that's what I'm going to blog about primarily.

But I'm going to mention two other things:

1.  I happen to have a daughter who was born on Halloween, and that got me into pumpkin carving, which eventually led me to make the "Stanley Cupkin" to commemorate the Blackhawks' 2013 Stanley Cup Championship:

Neat, eh?

2. I also have put in a skating rink in my backyard the past few winters, and that led me to make this video of the Blackhawks logo on ice in early 2015, which is also my avatar image.

What do these things have to do with the blog? I dunno.  But just had to mention them.

Thanks for reading.
