If I had to pick my most favorite summertime in Chicago destination, I would have to choose the Family Fun Festival at Millennium Park.
Summer family fun simply doesn't get any better than this. The Family Fun Festival presented by Target includes live music performances, story times, crafts, games and other interactive activities. And the best part is that festival offers something different every single day. And it is all totally free (well, except for the parking fees at Millennium Park).
Families can partake in the range of activities between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm. At 10:00 each day, Wiggleworms Instructors from the Old Town School of Music lead little ones in a sing-along. The Reading Circle kicks off at 11:00 am and runs for an hour. At 1:00 pm, Chicago's most popular children's entertainers perform each day.
The Family Fun Tent is located at the Chase Promenade on the North side of the park. If you plan your visit right, you might even be able to catch the Grant Park Orchestra rehearsing for an upcoming performance. And of course, no visit to Millennium Park is complete without a stop at the Crown Fountain to cool off.
Note that the Family Fun Tent can get crazy crowded with visits from summer camp groups so be prepared for that. And I definitely recommend packing your lunch because the food offerings at the park are expensive and also mediocre at best. But definitely make at least one (and ideally more!) visit to this awesome resource for Chicago families sometime this summer.
AND HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART: THE FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL ONLY RUNS THROUGH AUGUST 18th THIS YEAR. So plan your visit for next week if you haven't made it down to Millennium Park yet this summer.
