Museum free days are key to a successful summer that doesn't break the bank. Trips for a family of five to the Museum of Science and Industry or the Shedd Aquarium can really add up. Chicago Parent has a very comprehensive list of museum free days that I use as a reference (you should do the same).
Note that the Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium and Museum of Science and Industry ALL have free days coming up this week. Take a look and plan a visit!
All of the major museums are obviously really busy on free days. I recommend arriving early to beat the crowds and heading home before lunch when things tend to get really crazy.
Enjoy! Take advantage!
