If you've been any where near the Farm-in-the-Zoo at the Lincoln Park Zoo in the past year and a half, you probably noticed the massive construction project taking place around the South Pond.
At long last, the project is complete -- on June 24, the Lincoln Park Zoo will unveil the Nature Boardwalk. This 14-acre space is going to be a true urban oasis. I have been following the progress of this project and cannot wait to head down to the Zoo to check it out next week.
The Nature Boardwalk is going to be free and open to the public every day of the year. Visitors can come and learn about native plants and animals in their natural habitat -- all against the beautiful backdrop of our city. Plus, the Nature Boardwalk is going to be home to a variety of family-friendly programming -- everything from mommy/baby yoga to sleepovers under the stars. Doesn't that sound so cool?
If you are interested in learning more about this innovative urban conservation project, have a look at a story I wrote about the Nature Boardwalk in Mindful Metropolis Magazine. And then make a note in your summer calendar to check out this fabulous space.
