Why are you not coming in to get your hearing checked? Research tells us that it equates to growing old. I get that. Ask my husband, he'll tell you that I frequently find something new to complain about. It's often another pill to take, an ache or new doctor to see. And please don't say the word hearing aid. That really sounds like an old person's problem.
When our hearing starts to diminish, it happens quite gradually. Starting at the age of 30, we begin to lose our precious sense of hearing. And trust me, if you don't notice, the people around you do. We all hear what we see and don't see what we miss.
You're not alone if you are in denial or think to yourself, 'well, maybe it's not that bad'. If you believe that coming to terms with a change in your hearing makes you feel old, I'm here to tell you that a loss of hearing makes you look old.
So there, I said it. It's time for you to pick up the phone and schedule an appointment to see an audiologist. If you care about the way you appear to others, I hope that you'll do something about it. Because trust me, we all notice.
