In 2014, my husband, a sailor, gathered his crew of 8 for a fourth consecutive Race to Mackinac, the world's longest freshwater race from Chicago to Mackinac Island in Michigan. The 7 other sailors on our Beneteau First 10R, CHIEF, included our 16-year-old son, family friends and a hilarious new guy, a copywriter by the name of Mike Noble. Somehow, just as he'd done the year prior, crew member Chris Froeter juggled his co-captain duties while shooting beautiful footage from our boat, resulting in two years of memorable race videos (2013 & 2014). When the Chicago Yacht Club saw Froeter's 2014 cut, the 140-year-old organization commissioned Froeter to create its latest Race To Mackinac promotional video; that's Chris Froeter's voiceover speaking Mike Noble's copy.
The finished product captures the enduring spirit of a race started with just 5 boats back in 1898, one that inspires many to sail 25 times or more. Check out these screen shots from Froeter's 2015 video for a little behind-the-scenes info.
