Don't Let Your Fantasy Football League SUCK

Look, a lot of people this time of year are writing about how to make sure your team doesn’t suck. Which is important. I read a lot of those articles. I hate when my team sucks. You have a terrible draft, and then you’re stuck for MONTHS miserable, being made fun of, scouring the waiver... Read more »

Breaking Bad: Blood Money

Well, it appears that no one else is going to have the courage to write about Breaking Bad this week, so I’m willing to step into the void. You’re welcome, you’re welcome. Dont’ all thank me enough. The truth is, this show is so wonderful, so great, that there simply can’t be enough voices dissecting... Read more »

A couple words on Showtime's "Dexter" and "Ray Donovan"

A couple years ago I made the argument that Showtime was making a move on HBO as the best network for original programming. House of Lies and Shameless were killing it. Homeland’s first season was absolutely one of the best things ever on television. Dexter was mediocre at best, but entertaining in the same way... Read more »

Internet Dating & Other Pressing Matters

What’s the Internet for, if not to embarrass yourself? A buddy of mine started giving the eHarmony thing a shot. From what he said, it wasn’t awful. Now, in my head, Internet dating takes me right back to 1997. It’s AOL and chat rooms and 47 year old men pretending to be 17 year old... Read more »

Game of Thrones: Mhysa

Well, I blame Game of Thrones. It’s their fault. They’re the ones that conditioned us to expect something spectacular in the finale, so they’re the reason that I think we’re all feeling a little disappointed today that last night’s episode felt a little flat. Game of Thrones has followed the Sopranos model some, with the... Read more »

The Five Most Tragic Deaths on TV

Lost - Boone Dies<br>

People forget how great the early seasons of this show were because of how off the rails it went later. Early on, we were invested in these guys getting off that damn island! Boone was just a messed up young kid, and despite some questionable decisions in where he put his privates, there’s no way he deserved to go out like this. That sucked.
With the latest episode of Game of Thrones, I think we’re all pondering deaths of characters we loved. Since GoT has a habit of killing off people we care about stretching back to season one (RIP Ned), they don’t get to be on the list. EFF THOSE GUYS. So, exempting Game of Thrones, here are... Game of Thrones: Rains of Castamere

As Catelyn watched the guard shut the door and noted the band striking up The Rains of Castamere (a favorite song of the Lannister’s, detailing their utter annihilation of a rival house as detailed by Cersei last week), the sense of foreboding became palpable. When knives started slashing and arrows started flying, I think I... Read more »

Binge-Watching TV & Other Pressing Matters

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cpUfImwI87s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
As you may have heard, or read, or seen on neighborhood fliers, Arrested Development has a new season being released on Netflix this weekend. Somehow, the interwebs have been abuzz with the crucial discussion as to HOW to watch this show. Since the entire season is being released at once, should we binge watch the... Read more »

Chicago Essentials: Hot Doug's

I had family come visit me in Chicago for a few days, so I got to play tour guide. We did all the normal stuff. They’d been to Millenium Park and Shedd, so we did the Architecture Tour, Field Museum, Signature Lounge, etc. But really, I was mostly concerned with where to go eat. We... Read more »

Game of Thrones: Second Sons

There are a lot of reasons I love Game of Thrones, but perhaps most of all it’s because this is a TV show that completely understands what it is. You know how sometimes a sit-com will spend two or three weeks flexing it’s dramatic muscles, taking on some dark topic... Read more »

Hey, I'm Josh. I'm brand new to Chicago, specifically Logan Square, and I couldn't be more excited to be here. I'm a fan of good food and drink (a good whiskey or a nice beer I haven't had before can get you in my will), and wandering the city. I love good TV and shitty movies, and I'm always open to a suggestion for either.
