Upon exiting from cubicle nation at the top of this year, I'm now back to delays, schellping luggage, and passenger shenanigans.
Yup, I'm once again flight attending after a year long hiatus. In some ways, I feel like a new hire. Shiny, bright eyed and lugging way too much stuff around.
But, after a couple of trips under my belt, the glow is starting to wear off.
This go around however, there's one thing I know for sure: the 9 to 5 life isn't for me.
Yes, I proved to myself that if I have to, I can work at a desk and go to the same place every single day. I can see the same people everyday. I can endure the meetings about the meetings and tolerate the office politics.
But, while I can do all these things and not be totally miserable, I like the alternative. I like I more freedom, more flexibility and to choice to occasionally sleep in late on a weekday.
I've missed my beach vacations and international jet setting; the already paid-for hotels where I can sleep, binging on cable and sometimes blogging because I'm not mentally drained after getting off work at 6 p.m.
Today, I'm off and I'm enjoying the solitude of a weekday afternoon. Tomorrow, before the world wakes up, I'll be at the airport preparing to work through the weekend and this coming snowstorm...
