Simple tweaks could ignite the Blackhawks' offense

Simple tweaks could ignite the Blackhawks' offense
Ah, the elusive third goal.  Something that’s “plagued” the “struggling” Blackhawks all season long.  In “all” of their losses (one in regulation, two in the shootout), they’ve scored two goals.  In their two shootout victories, the third goal only showed up because of the shootout win.  So what are the Blackhawks to do to end... Return of the Rat

Return of the Rat
Moments after Dave Bolland’s Stanley Cup winning goal flew past Tuukka Rask last summer, I found myself thinking, “What a way to go out…a Stanley Cup hero.”  Maybe it took Bolland a little more time than it took me to realize that the biggest goal he’ll ever score could be his last as a Chicago... Congrats Hawks fans, you have arrived

Congrats Hawks fans, you have arrived
Tuesday night was a celebration.  A celebration of the resurrection of a dead franchise.  A celebration of a champion.  A celebration of a potential dynasty.  The Blackhawks banner raising ceremony was perfectly done, and the Blackhawks’ exhilarating 6-4 win over the Washington Capitals was the perfect cherry on the sundae. Yet, some people still aren’t... Read more »

Blackhawks roster set for opening night

Blackhawks roster set for opening night
While the Blackhawks haven’t announced it officially, their opening night roster appears to be set.  The last remaining piece was the battle for the all important 8th d-man spot between Mike Kostka and Ryan Stanton.  Stanton was claimed off waivers by Vancouver today, so I think it’s safe to say that Kostka won the job.... Blackhawks unveil 2013 Stanley Cup Championship rings

Sunday night, the Blackhawks and Jostens unveiled the design for the Blackhawks’ 2013 Stanley Cup Championship ring. The ring is quite a departure from 2010’s ring, which was the size of a Cadillac and almost unwearable.  This ring has a bit of an old school look, and is something that the players can wear for... Blackhawks reduce roster to 24, demote Pirri

10 players to watch this Blackhawks pre-season

Teuvo Teravainen - Teravainen was the Blackhawks 1st round pick (18th overall) in the 2012 draft. While the Hawks have already decided that the young forward will spend this season in Finland, he's the Hawks top and most elite prospect. Patrick Kane compared Teravainen to himself, while Scotty Bowman compared him to Igor Larianov. He's an electrifying player with incredible hands and vision. A year in Finland will help him add a little size, which he will need before taking part in an 82 game + NHL season. He'll be here soon enough...but take an early look while you can.
With the Chicago Blackhawks making their televised preseason debut Thursday night, many fans will be getting their first glimpse of the team.  While many of the core pieces remain intact, there three or four starting roster spots available.  These young Blackhawks have a chance to make the roster this season. Thanks to blackhawks.nhl.com and NHLPA.com... Read more »

10 things Hawks fans shouldn't miss at Notre Dame

Basilica of the Sacred Heart - You don't have to be Catholic to admire the beauty of the Basilica. The church's construction began in 1870, and hosts a mass after every Notre Dame home game.
The Blackhawks open camp this weekend on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.  As a long time Blackhawks and Irish enthusiast, I thought I’d share a list of my favorite sites at the historic campus.  Visit tour.nd.edu for more information.  If you see me there Saturday, make sure you say hello.  Go Blackhawks...
