After five games, it’s clear that Joel Quenneville isn’t happy with the Blackhawks’ second line center situation.  After beginning the season with Michal Handzus on the line, centering Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp, he’s ready for a change. Blackhawks roster set for opening night
While the Blackhawks haven’t announced it officially, their opening night roster appears to be set.  The last remaining piece was the battle for the all important 8th d-man spot between Mike Kostka and Ryan Stanton.  Stanton was claimed off waivers by Vancouver today, so I think it’s safe to say that Kostka won the job.... 10 players to watch this Blackhawks pre-season

Teuvo Teravainen - Teravainen was the Blackhawks 1st round pick (18th overall) in the 2012 draft. While the Hawks have already decided that the young forward will spend this season in Finland, he's the Hawks top and most elite prospect. Patrick Kane compared Teravainen to himself, while Scotty Bowman compared him to Igor Larianov. He's an electrifying player with incredible hands and vision. A year in Finland will help him add a little size, which he will need before taking part in an 82 game + NHL season. He'll be here soon enough...but take an early look while you can.
With the Chicago Blackhawks making their televised preseason debut Thursday night, many fans will be getting their first glimpse of the team.  While many of the core pieces remain intact, there three or four starting roster spots available.  These young Blackhawks have a chance to make the roster this season. Thanks to blackhawks.nhl.com and NHLPA.com... Read more »

Red Light District Summer Mailbag Vol. 1

Red Light District Summer Mailbag Vol. 1
Since it’s summer, and nothing is really happening in Blackhawk land, I figured it was time for this summer’s first mail bag (not to be confused with male bag.  That’s a different blog). Readers of this blog, Twitter followers, and Facebook people chimed in with their queries.  Here’s what they had to ask. Sarcastic Mike... Read more »

Blackhawks trade Carcillo, Chicago shrugs

Blackhawks trade Carcillo, Chicago shrugs
When the Blackhawks signed Daniel Carcillo in July of 2011, I liked the deal.  I thought Carcillo could be a nice change of pace to the Hawks finesse lineup, and could play on all four lines.  While his time here was hardly memorable, it was certainly disappointing.  He only appeared in 51 regular season game....
