Blackhawks reduce roster to 24, demote Pirri

Blackhawks reduce roster to 24, demote Pirri
When training camp opened for the Blackhawks earlier this month, Brandon Pirri was the favorite for the ever elusive second line center job.  Now, everyone’s offseason favorite has become a camp casualty. Saturday night, the Blackhawks set their roster to 24, and Pirri was one of the cuts.  Jeremy Morin and Antti Raanta were the... Read more »

10 players to watch this Blackhawks pre-season

Teuvo Teravainen - Teravainen was the Blackhawks 1st round pick (18th overall) in the 2012 draft. While the Hawks have already decided that the young forward will spend this season in Finland, he's the Hawks top and most elite prospect. Patrick Kane compared Teravainen to himself, while Scotty Bowman compared him to Igor Larianov. He's an electrifying player with incredible hands and vision. A year in Finland will help him add a little size, which he will need before taking part in an 82 game + NHL season. He'll be here soon enough...but take an early look while you can.
With the Chicago Blackhawks making their televised preseason debut Thursday night, many fans will be getting their first glimpse of the team.  While many of the core pieces remain intact, there three or four starting roster spots available.  These young Blackhawks have a chance to make the roster this season. Thanks to blackhawks.nhl.com and NHLPA.com... Read more »

Red Light District Summer Mailbag Vol. 1

Red Light District Summer Mailbag Vol. 1
Since it’s summer, and nothing is really happening in Blackhawk land, I figured it was time for this summer’s first mail bag (not to be confused with male bag.  That’s a different blog). Readers of this blog, Twitter followers, and Facebook people chimed in with their queries.  Here’s what they had to ask. Sarcastic Mike... Read more »

Blackhawks' roster nearly set after busy weekend for Bowman
As soon as the Blackhawks hoisted the Stanley Cup in Boston, you know changes were coming…and quickly.  It only took six days for Stan Bowman to conduct a draft, re-sign Bryan Bickell, and trade Dave Bolland and Michael Frolik.  Five days later, former Hawks Viktor Stalberg and Ray Emery have new homes (Nashville and Philadephia,... Blackhawks re-sign Bickell, trade Frolik and Bolland

Blackhawks re-sign Bickell, trade Frolik and Bolland
At Sunday’s NHL Draft, Stan Bowman made more moves than many GMs make in an entire summer.  He traded Stanley Cup hero Dave Bolland to Toronto for a 2nd round pick, a 4th round pick and another 4th in 2014.  Then, he traded Michael Frolik to Winnipeg for a 3rd round and 5th round pick.... All By Myself : My Game Six Experience

All By Myself : My Game Six Experience
No Blackhawk fan will ever forget where they were June 24th, 2013…the night the Blackhawks captured their second Stanley Cup Championship in four seasons. Maybe you were one of the fortunate souls at the Garden in Boston, like my 670 The Score compatriots Dan McNeil and Matt Spiegel.  Perhaps you were arm and arm with... Read more »

Quenneville has options if Toews can't play in Game 6

Quenneville has options if Toews can't play in Game 6
Saturday night in Chicago, the Blackhawks put together their most complete effort of the Stanley Cup Final so far.  There was no dominating period like in Game Two, but for close 60 minutes, the Hawks dictated play and remained aggressive.  In the end, the Hawks would take Game Five 3-1, and are now one win... Drop the puck! Game One is almost here

Drop the puck! Game One is almost here
A lot of things are on my mind before tonight’s Game One of the Stanley Cup Final, so I’ll just go point to point and you can sort out my insane ramblings. -  I don’t like the fact that Brandon Bollig is in the lineup over Viktor Stalberg.  I know Stalberg hasn’t exactly set the... Read more »

Hawks drop Game 3 in LA
Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Kings team everyone expected showed up, and they skated away with a 3-1 victory.  The Kings played the Hawks physically, pressuring their D and forcing turnovers early.  They also got the Hawks off their games in the 2nd period.  Patrick Sharp took two frustration penalties, and Duncan Keith earned himself...
