Team USA unveils Olympic jerseys

Tuesday morning, Team USA hockey unveiled their jerseys for the 2013 Sochi Olympic games...and they're not good.

It's clear what Nike was trying to achieve when creating these jerseys.  They wanted old school (the logo) with a modern touch (plastic stars and ties.)

To me, and a few others on Twitter, they look like the players should be working for Union Pacific Railroad.  Why they just didn't go with the old, classic 1980's style sweaters is beyond me.

You want to move product?  Create a jersey that's timeless.  Those are the best uniforms in all of sports.  Blackhawks, Yankees, Cowboys, Bears, Notre Dame, USC, Celtics.  Find me a list with a "modern look" jersey in the top 5 of any "best jerseys" list.  I'd bet you can't.

The effort was there, but I just can't convince myself to like the jerseys. Maybe they'll look better on the ice. I hope so.
