If you're as tired of the NHL Lockout as I am, I'm sure you're looking for something hockey related to smile about. Well, the Tribune's Sports Writer Steve Rosenbloom and Film Critic Michael Phillips have your answer. They've unearthed a restored a 35mm version of Slap Shot, and will be showing the movie at the Music Box Theater on Thursday December 6th.
Now, if you're reading this blog, I think it's safe to assume you've seen Slap Shot no fewer than 386 times, but on the big screen? It's been 35 years since it's been in theaters. I know I won't be able to skip this. You shouldn't either.
If you'd like to join Rosie, Phillips and a bunch of hockey nuts like me, go to chicagotribune.com/slapshot to buy tickets and get more information...and make sure to bring your f***ing toys with you.
