Toews frustrated with Bettman, lockout

One of the better Twitter follows in the hockey world is Sportnet's Josh Rimer.  He is a truly connected and trusted source.  Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews texted Rimer his thoughts on the lockout and today's cancellation of the first two weeks of the regular season.  The reporter shared those texts on Twitter.

Toews, "it's another disappointing but expected move from the league. This seems to be our commissioners bread and butter."

The league has hinted that the ball is in the players' court now. Either make a counter proposal, or be prepared to sit for a long time. At this point, it's anyone's guess who will blink first, but as soon as players begin losing paychecks, they may find a little more urgency.

It's unfortunate that the players will likely be the ones to sacrifice money from deals the owners themselves signed, especially after the concessions the players accepted after the 2004 lockout. The players are frustrated and feel they're being disrespected. It's hard to disagree.
