With the NHL lockout in full effect, players have signed European contracts in droves. Now, the Blackhawks have their first of what could be many defectors.
Michael Frolik has signed a deal with Chomutov of the Czech Extraliga League, and will play in his first game this Tuesday. The 24 year old winger tallied 15 points in 63 games with the Blackhawks last season.
Expect many other foreign born Blackhawks to sign Euro deals soon. Even players like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane have hinted a leaving should the lockout linger, as expected.
