Blackhawks announce preseason schedule

Our first sniff of the 2012-13 hockey season is upon us.  Wednesday, the Blackhawks announced their preseason schedule for the upcoming season.

The Hawks will open up in Philadephia Tuesday, September, 25th.  From there, they'll head home for the first game (Friday the 28th) of a home and home vs the Red Wings.  The game in Detroit will be Sunday the 30th.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will come to town Sunday, September 30th, and the Hawks will return the favor Friday, October 5th.

The preseason wraps up Saturday, October 6th, when the Flyers come to the United Center.

Though typically mocked, the NHL preseason is a good place to get a look at prospects and fringe players.  Brandon Saad made a name for himself last preseason after entering camp with very low expectations.  His solid preseason got him a quick look early in the season, and again in the playoffs.

There are many jobs to be won (or lost) this season.  It should be another interesting preseason.
