Torres suspended indefinitely, hearing Friday

Just crossed from NHL.com

Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres has been suspended indefinitely, pending an in-person hearing Friday, April 20, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today. The hearing, which had been planned for today, was deferred at the request of the player and the National Hockey League Players' Association.

The hearing will be convened at the NHL's New York office for a hit Torres delivered to Chicago forward Marian Hossa 11:42 into the first period of Game 3 of the teams' Western Conference Quarterfinal series in Chicago on Tuesday, April 17.

Well, this is a good start.  Let's hope Brendan Shanahan and crew get it right this time.  Any less than a double digit suspension is too soft.

More on the Torres hit later today...

  • The "indefinitely" portion on the suspension gives me some hope that Shanahan does what should be done, ie., Raffi, you can no longer play in the NHL! EVER!
