Toews, Hossa and Kane named to NHL All Star Team

Jonathan Toews, Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane have been named to the NHL's All Star team.  This year's All Star Game will take place in Ottawa on January 29th.

Toews ranks 13th in scoring in the NHL, with 22 goals and 20 assists.

Hossa is 7th in the league in scoring with 17 goals and 28 assists.

Kane, who has struggled scoring this year, still ranks 27th in the league with 10 goals and 28 assists.

Many Blackhawks observers (myself included) think Kane hasn't earned the All Star nod this season.  He's gone long stretches without a goal, and has been fairly invisible many nights.  Regardless, even at 70% effort, Kane is a top 20 talent in the league.

Toews and Hossa are no-brainers, as they've both been dominant all season long.

Patrick Sharp could easily have been an All Star, but was likely left out because of his recent "upper body injury".  Sharp ranks 18th in the league with 20 goals and 20 assists.

Just like last year, the All Star rosters will be chosen by a fantasy draft.  Of the 6 voted starters (Erik Karlsson, Daniel Alfredsson, Milan Michalek and Jason Spezza of the Ottawa Senators and Dion Phaneuf from Toronto and Tim Thomas from Boston), two will be named captains.  Those two will draft their own teams on the weekend of the All Star Game.  This means that the Blackhawks won't necessarily play on the same team.
