Last night, Patrick Sharp gave the Blackhawks an early 2-0 lead over the Red Wings with a slap shot from the slot. Unfortunately, it looks like that's the last time he'll light the lamp for the Hawks for quite a while.
Joel Quenneville announced today that Sharp, the teams 3rd leading scorer, would miss 3-4 weeks with an upper body injury.
After the game, speculation was that Sharp had taken a slash to the wrist, but Quenneville wouldn't commit to how the injury happened. Regardless, the rumors have it that it's a broken left hand or wrist.
Ben Smith will be recalled to fill his slot. The Hawks have been due for a trade or shakeup for a couple of weeks now. Maybe this injury will light a fire under Stan Bowman's seat. The Hawks are losing ground in the conference and division. Sharp's absence won't help in that point chase. The time is now Stan...pull the trigger.
