In the hours before the Blackhawks convention, the Blackhawks announced a pair of signings.
Michael Frolik, who was arbitration eligible, re-upped for 3 years, $7 million. That's a $2.3 million cap hit, which is a little high for my tastes. He was one of the best Hawks in the playoff series vs Vancouver. If he can keep that play up, this could be a bargain down the line. He has scored 20 goals twice in his three NHL seasons, and will be expected to keep that up throughout this contract.
Lepisto, who's terms are still undisclosed, looks like a depth signing on the surface, but looking at his scouting report, the writing might be on the wall for Chris Campoli, who looks destined for arbitration, and a contract the Hawks may be unwilling to pay. Either way, he's a nice insurace policy for a Hawks d-corp that is becoming very deep.
