Corey Crawford to get second consecutive start tonight

In a bit of a surprise move, Blackhawk's Head Coach Joel Quenneville has decided to go back to Corey Crawford in tonight's game vs the Nashville Predators.  After allowing 2 goals in the opening minutes of Monday night's game in Buffalo, Crawford settled down, and helped the Blackhawks capture their first win of the season.

It's too early to say we have a goalie controversy on our hands, but Q is clearly sending a message to both goalies.  This starter's job is open.

  • I like Turco and I still believe he is going to be very good , but he needs to be carefull because we could have another situation like last year. The season started last year with Huet as the starter and a guy named Niemi form the minors who was just happy to be here. Huet was not good and gave way to the guy from the minors and Huet never got back in there. It will be much easier for a switch to happen this year because last year the Hawks were hoping for a reson to stay with Huet because of the big $ he was getting , Turco is not making Huet money and the Hawks will not hesitate to let Crawford show what he has.
I am wondering that maybe after Turco lost to the Wings they were reminded that his record against them is very poor and are looking down the line at a playoff series with them , Turco simply can not play a muffed puck into the goal like he did on the Detroit game winner Saturday, the Hawks were flat and the Wings played their best and the Hawks still could have stolen at least a point, Turco needs to make that save in a game like that.

The Wings did not play their best in that game.

I tend to think the goalie job isn't an open competition as much as it's the schedule... http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/daily-chicago-sports-tab/2010/10/corey-crawford-gets-another-start-for-the-blackhawks-goalie-controversy.html
