Blackhawks sign forward Ryan Potulny

The Blackhawks have signed former Oiler and Flyers center/winger Ryan Potulny to a one year, two way contract with a $500,000 cap hit.

Potulny, an undersized forward (6'0 190 lbs) , showed he could score a little bit last year on a horrible Edmonton team, where he scored 15 goals and 17 assists in 64 games.  Despite his size, he has a nose for the net and is willing to work for his points.

For the Hawks, he will likely compete for a 3rd or 4th line position
with guys like Fernando Pisani, Kyle Beach, Jake Dowell, and Jack
Skille, among others.  Should he not hook on the big club, he will be a
major contributor to the Rockford club, and will be one of the Hawks top
options for a call up.

  • Half our team makes 500,000. I like it.

If these "decent" guys all play to their capabilities, this team could be deeper than many expected.
