Blackhawks get shootout win over Bruins in game of the year

If Friday night's Hawks shootout win over the Boston Bruins didn't make you a hockey fan, nothing will.

THAT was the best game of the year.  Two evenly matched teams with differing skill sets playing balls out for sixty minutes.  The Hawks, with their finesse and speed vs the Bruins with their size and grit.  It was a back and forth slug fest...Bruins take the lead, Hawks score...Hawks take the lead, Bruins score.  When the smoke cleared, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane scored their shootout goals, and skill once again defeated brawn.  At this point, I'm thinking this is a Stanley Cup Finals preview, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The Blackhawks are playing with supreme confidence right now.  Even
when the Bruins tied the game late in the 3rd, the outcome never seemed
in doubt.  They've been dominant lately, especially at home, and have
played their best games vs the leagues best teams.

Sunday night, the Red Wings come to town.  This will be a great test of
where the Hawks are.  As shorthanded as the Wings are (Henrik
Zetterberg will miss the game), they have always been a thorn in the
Hawks' side.  A big, dominant victory over the Wings could erase that
mental block Detroit has seemed to put in the Hawks brains.  It's time
for the Wings to hand over the torch.  Their time is done.  Sunday,
let's hope the Hawks take it our of their cold, dead hands.

  • one of the best games of the year - yes
the best game of the year - no

I'm thinking the comeback from 5 down against Calgary, maybe not in terms of best played but that was something special.
