I have been getting calls from my fellow Obama voters that Joe Ricketts, the head of the family who bought the Cubs back in 2009 from the Chicago Tribune Company, has spent $10 million dollars to research and produce ads in which they link Obama to Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. We have already seen that Obama denounced any ties to this man back in 2008 when he was running for president. Does this mean nothing to Ricketts?
The New York Times quotes Brian Baker saying:
“Joe Ricketts is prepared to spend significant resources in the 2012 election in both the presidential race and Congressional races,” Mr. Baker said in an interview Wednesday. “He is very concerned about the future direction of the country and plans to take a stand.”
So how much of your billions are you willing to spend Joe? Are you really hard up on cash that you want to take down a guy that believes that you should be paying the same tax rate as I am? You cannot even seem to spend good money to get players for the Cubs, who I have loved no matter if they win or lose, but you are willing to spend millions upon millions to fight Obama? Even John McCain was a better person for not stooping this low!
I can honestly say that I have been going to Cubs games since I was in the womb, but my first official game was when I was 9 days old. Not many Cubs fans my age can say this. After hearing about Joe Ricketts desire to take Obama down I am starting to rethink my loyalty to the Cubs. If this story that is going around the media is true, you will find a bonfire going at Thorndale Beach this weekend. I will be burning everything I own and cherish that is Cubs related and officially become a Red Sox fan (second favorite team since 1990).
I cannot follow a team that has an owner willing to spend money to defeat someone I believe to be a far better candidate then Romney ever could be. Shame on you Ricketts, SHAME ON YOU!
