You know every week I write about how music plays an important role in society and that all things with meaning in our lives, Weddings, Birthdays, Graduations, Funerals and personal achievements use music as the backdrop of the events that are being celebrated.
Well music also has a unique relation with sports and sporting events as well.
My favorite football team, The Chicago Bears, have now made this blog.
How you may ask? Because they are out of tune, out of sync, are trying to squeeze a 16 bar verse in to a 4 bar space.
They are a 6, 8 ,6 Haiku. (WHEW that hurt my brain!) I was just trying to be Dan Bernstein on that one.
Regardless of the reference the Chicago Bears suck and now I am placing the blame on Lovie Smith.
What kind of name is Lovie for a brother anyway?
Man I tried to look out for you my brother.
When you stuck with Rex Grossman I gave you a pass. When you let go of Thomas Jones I gave you a pass. When you said beating the Packers was a key I gave you a pass. When you hired Mike Martz I gave you a Pass.
The pass stops here. (SORT OF LIKE IT DOES DURING GAMEDAY WITH OUR OFFENSE)
Lovie it has not all been bad!
You have done some good things like:
Took the Bears to the Super Bowl early!
Amassed one of the best winning records for a Bears coach ever!
It is with great sadness that I have to say something I never thought I would say in public or private ever.
I HOPE THE PACKERS COME IN AND BEAT THE BEARS 100-0.
IT IS TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. COACHES, PLAYERS, THE ANNOUNCERS, THE SCOREKEEPER, THE BAND, THE GRASS ON THE FIELD, THE LOGO, THE FOOD IN THE STADIUM, THE SPACESHIP, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY….YOU LOVIE.
I’m tired of watching the Bears and begging for the Defense to score.
That is not how the game works people.
Why can’t my Quarterback (WHO I THINK IS GOOD BUT WAS NOT DRAFTED BY THE BEARS), throw to a (CHICAGO BEAR) drafted receiver, in an offense that has been constructed by an (OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR), who studied to how to create offenses that score?
After watching Tom Brady beat down the Houston Texans (REMEMBER THEM… WE SHOULD HAVE BEAT THEM) I finally saw what a football team should look like. There were tight end sightings, defensive blitz plays that worked, play action pass not play action sacks and the most important thing I saw on the field was…a confident coach who ran the entire team, but if he had to, could call both offensive and defensive plays.
Now I do not like Bill Belichick, believed that he cheated his way to the Superbowl wins, but I still think he can coach at a NFL level.
The game of football, when played well, can remind us of a musical meter(THE TEAM). The Musical Meter can be defined by the breaking up of a given piece into bars or measures(OFFENSE, DEFENSE, SPECIAL TEAMS), and it is the arrangement within the bars or measures that determines the song’s rhythm.
That sounded good huh?
Lovie you have my Chicago Bears playing without rhythm.
(A BUNCH OF BROTHERS AT THAT)
It’s time for some new SOUL at SOULdiers Field.
Damn, Damn, Damn… I didn’t want to right this blog.
GO PACKERS? (HURTS TO SAY)
