Chicago Condo Owners See Red, Chicago Skyscrapers See Purple, and I Now Work for Warren Buffett!

A news item that was quietly placed in the inner pages of this morning's Chicago Sun Times spoke loudly to the homeowners in the Riverbend Condominiums.  A Chicago judge ruled that the three new skyscrapers planned for Wolf Point, blocking the homeowners’ incoming morning sun and Lake views to the East, will be allowed to go forward.

A strongly worded, precedent-setting, somewhat imperious comment, much like the one in the photo above, accompanied the ruling given by the US District Court judge, sending chills through every Chicago condo owner hoping that some future skyscraper won’t take away their sunny, dramatic downtown vistas.  Quoth the judge:  “Illinois courts do not recognize property values, air, or light as constitutionally protected property interests.”  In a word, “Wow”!

Speaking of beautiful views, there will be stunning lavender and purple highlights on many Chicago skyscrapers, thanks to the efforts of my friend Jill Saponaro, shown above on a nightly news interview, and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Many of our town’s skyscrapers are “putting on the purple” in honor of November being Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.  Take a look and you’ll see some beautiful hues on the skyline.  Here's the Willits Tower, the Wrigley Building, and the Gehry Bandshell at the Pritzker Pavilion, they have never looked so good!

In a dramatic move that will add even more value to the real estate services I can provide, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway firm purchased two of the top real estate firms in Chicago, namely my firm, Prudential Rubloff, and the well-respected Koenig & Strey firm.  The two firms will be brought together into a network called Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, and I am excited to be associated with the trust, integrity, and stability that have always gone along with the Berkshire Hathaway name!

I am so proud of my clients at 55 East Erie.  Their Penthouse Unit was chosen for a special tour on NBC 5 in Chicago on Sunday November 17th.  Here is a link to the tour:  NBC Tour  My client, Jaclyn Luke, is so poised and does such a great job - she is easily as good as the host of the show!
