Top Ten Buildings of the Last Decade and Seasonal Sights!

As the year and the Decade draw to a close, there have been many Top Ten lists come out.  Here is one of my favorites:  The Huffington Post had a great article on the Top Ten Architectural Achievements of the last ten years.  Here is a link:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jacob-slevin/10-best-architecture-mome_b_798929.html#s212691 and below are a few of the top projects.

These are some amazing structures, and it is a tribute to the creativity of the architects that besides being some of the most striking projects I have ever seen, many of them incorporated green concepts at the same time!

Too bad that none of my favorite Chicago architects were included in the list, but let's not forget that Stanley Tigerman, Lucien LaGrange, and Jeanne Gang also created many memorable buildings during the last decade that will grace Chicago's famous skyline for decades to come!  Here's the Aqua building, designed by studio Gang.

From my perch here at One Museum Park East I get to see the seasons change over all of Grant Park and Millennium Park.  With the beautiful blanket of snow hiding the lawns, the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium seem like Limestone islands in a sea of white cotton.  These little guys would have no problem making it through a cold Chicago winter!

Then looking to the North, there are still quite a few people taking strolls through Millennium Park, with the best action focusing on the skating rink which is right along Michigan Avenue and just down the stairs from the amazing Bean (oh, excuse me, the amazing "Cloud Gate"!)

Well, it's been a challenging year for many of us, but when I hear Santa and his reindeer with their delightful bells chiming in the distance, all I can say is it's a beautiful White Christmas in Chicago and may you all have many blessings in the New Year!
